HAGATÑA – The Consulate General of the Philippines wishes to announce that Consul General Bayani S. Mercado shall conclude his tour of duty in Guam on 30 November 2008 and assume the post of Assistant Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Legislative Liaison Office on 01 December 2008.

            Consul General Mercado, who is on his second tour of duty in Guam, assumed his current post on 19 June 2007. He first served as Consul General of the Philippines in Guam from February 2002 to October 2003. His tour of duty was cut short when the Department of Foreign Affairs assigned him as Ambassador & Deputy Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations in New York in October 2003.
